The Boston Labor Conference
The Massachusetts AFL-CIO invites all union brothers and sisters as well as allies in the labor movement to attend this free conference open to the public. The Boston Labor Conference is sponsored by The Labor Resource Center at UMass Boston, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, and the Greater Boston Labor Council. Please Register Here:https://tinyurl.com/LRCboston2017.
General Organization: We hope everyone can attend as much of the conference as possible, with the idea that conversations will develop over the course of the day. As you will see from the program (attached below), the first session will bring us all together for a roundtable about the current political moment. The next two time slots (with lunch in between!) each have two sessions running concurrently, focusing on the state of labor in Boston, the state of the opposition, and the state of organizing. We then return together as a larger group for a final discussion about labor research and education.
Session Format: Each presentation should be 10 to 15 minutes, with the hope that there will be time for discussion. Session chairs will introduce the panel/speakers and then monitor time and speakers.
Food: We will feed you. Light breakfast, coffee/tea, snacks, and lunch.
Directions/Parking: Taking the T to the JFK/UMASS stop, and then grabbing the free shuttle to the Campus Center, is always encouraged. From there, make your way to Wheatley Hall (Fourth Floor, Rm 151), which is adjacent to the Campus Center (https://www.umb.edu/map) For those who drive, parking should be relatively easy, there should be signs, but park in Lot D and then walk to Wheatley (again, we should have signs to help with the walk).
